A British woman is planning to marry the Statue of Liberty.
Amanda Whittaker says she fell for the US landmark in 2007 and has since sent the statue Valentine's Day cards, written love letters to it and even bought a six foot replica of the statue - which she refers to as Libby - so she feels closer to the 46 metre high statue.
When I kiss the replica I felt connected to her.
She said: "Libby's my long-distance lover. I'm blown away by how stunning she is. People think it's strange, but I can't help my feelings. I use my replica to satisfy my need for physical contact when I can't be with her.
"When I kiss the replica I felt connected to her."
Amanda has Objectum Sexual, a rare disorder which means she is attracted to inanimate objects. Her past `lovers' include a drumkit and a number of different flags. Her infatuation with flags led to the breakdown of her last relationship with a boy, who left her because he became jealous of the flags.
Amanda first fell in love with the Statue Of Liberty, which is located in New York, after a friend sent her a postcard of it. She has since saved up and made a visit to the statue in 2009 where she ascended to the top of the statue and kissed it.
She added: "Strangers thought I was mad, but I didn't care."
