Laila Ali gives birth to baby boy

Muhammad Ali's daughter Laila Ali has become a mother for the first time - after giving birth to a baby boy late last month.Ali, 30, welcomed little Curtis Muhammad on 26 August with husband, ex-American footballer Curtis Conway, she announced on her website on Thursday.The baby boy, nicknamed "CJ", weighed in at six pounds, eight ounces, measuring 19 inches long.Ali announced her pregnancy to Essence magazine in May, revealing her plans to have "a natural home birth with no medication" and using a midwife.A statement on Ali's website reads: "Although mom and baby are both healthy and happy, there were some surprises during labor that altered Laila's birth plan," adding, "Mama and baby are resting."Ali and Conway married last year in a lavish ceremony in Marina del Rey, California.The child is Ali's first and Conway's fourth. He has twin sons and a daughter from a previous relationship.
