Matt Lucas to wed

'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas is to 'wed' his gay lover. The 32-year-old comic secretly proposed in May to his lover of four years, TV researcher Kevin McGee, and they are now ready to tie the knot in a civil ceremony. The engagement has been revealed in a new book about the BBC comedy series called 'Inside Little Britain', published today (07.09.06). The book says: "Matt and Kevin feel destined to be together." Matt recently revealed his mum, Diana, was "shocked and surprised" when he told her he was homosexual. But she thinks that Kevin is "a lovely boy". He said: "I may not be able to give her babies but I can give her BAFTAs." Before getting engaged, Matt - who has achieved massive fame through his hit show, created with writing partner David Walliams - exchanged matching silver eternity rings with Kevin last year.

They recently bought a £1 million home together in London's fashionable St John's Wood region.
