Chris Rock is to remake 'Death at a Funeral'.
The American comedian has reportedly teamed up with Sydney Kemmel Entertainment (SKE) to produce, co-write and star in a new version of the British comedy, which will be switched to an urban American setting following the same plotline as the 2007 original, which starred Matthew MacFadyen, Keeley Hawes and Daisy Donovan.
Jim Tauber, a spokesperson for SKE - who also made the original film - commented: "Chris, who was an unabashed fan of the film, came to us with a hysterical, completely new reimagining of the original concept.
"Sony Screen Gems loved it and jumped on board right away, and they're bringing their considerable marketing and distribution savvy to the project."
Producers are currently looking for a director for the film, with shooting scheduled to start early next year.
The 2007 movie made £29million at the worldwide box office.
