Michael Fassbender has joined Terrence Malick's latest drama film.

The 'Shame' actor has been spotted on the set of the as-yet untitled movie - which used to be called 'Lawless', but Malick let his friend and fellow director John Hillcoat use the title for his gangster movie earlier this year - and a photograph of him and Ryan Gosling filming has since been posted online.

The motion picture - which also stars Rooney Mara, Natalie Portman and Haley Bennett - tells the story of a love triangle and is set amid the music culture of Austin, Texas.

It is not known how significant Michael's role will be in the film, and his part may even be cut before the final production is released, but it comes shortly after Holly Hunter was also spotted on the set of Malick's forthcoming motion picture.

The director has recently wrapped on 'Knight of Cups' in Los Angeles, which stars Natalie, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Isabelle Lucas, while Michael has been shooting 'The Counselor' with Ridley Scott in London.

He is due to join up with the cast of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' - the sequel to last year's 'X-Men: First Class' - to start filming the movie later this year, and he is likely to next be seen in Steve McQueen's 'Twelve Years a Slave' next year.
