Alex Ferguson is delighted at a record breaking nineteenth league title with Manchester United.
United needed just a single point from their clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday to break the league title record held be rivals Liverpool.
But with seventeen minutes to go it looked United may have to wait another week to be crowed domestic champions as Blackburn lead 1-0.
But s seventy third minute penalty, scored by Wayne Rooney, was enough to give Ferguson his twelfth Premier League title.
Speaking to the BBC Ferguson said: "It's not so much passing Liverpool.
"It's more important that United are the best team in the country in terms of winning titles.
"That thing about knocking Liverpool off their perch, I don't think I actually said it.
"It's the same with the FA Cup. We have won it more times than everyone and now we have won the Premier League more times than anyone."
United must still face Blackpool in the final game of the season but the club will be looking to claim another piece of silverware as they are set to face Barcelona in the Champions League final at Wembley.
