Alex Ferguson is facing a major injury problem at Manchester United after just one game of the new season.
United were just one of three Premier League teams to take all three points in the opening weekend (Bolton and Wolverhampton being the other two) as they faced a tough test at West Brom.
But the three points came at a cost as Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic both picked up injuries with Rafael de Silva already out.
Ferdinand was forced off the field in the seventy fifth minute with a hamstring problem - he is expected to be out for a t least six weeks.
Ten minutes prior Vidic had also had to leave the field with a calf problem. While Rafael dislocated his shoulder in training and is facing ten weeks on the sidelines.
Writing on his Twitter page Ferdinand said: Gutted with the injury to my hamstring, was feeling good as well.
"Great result on the opening day as West Brom is a hard place to go to."
It was Rooney who got United's first goal of the Premier League season as he found the back of the net after just thirteen minutes.
But Long equalised in the thirty seventh minute and the side s went in 1-1 at half time after an entertaining opening fort five minutes.
And it looked like it was going to be a draw until Reid scored an own goal in the eighty first minutes to see United go 1-2 in front.
