Pyjama Dilemma

Helena asks:

Is there any excuse to go to work in your pyjamas? Thanks

Jess's Answer

Even though it may seem like the comfier option I'd have to say no Helena, I think pyjamas should be kept strictly for bed!

Amazingly some designers disagree with me though, including Dolce & Gabbana, Marni and Louis Vuitton.

Marni sent models down the catwalk indeckchair striped loose fitting tops and trousers while Louis Vuitton went for loose silk trousers.

It was Dolce & Gabbana who really went full hog though with models wearing baggy silk trousers and jackets, tied at the waist with a sash in an almost dressing gown style.

The look clearly impressed someone as Jessica Alba wore the outfit to a film premiere, but I really don't think even someone as beautiful as Jess can pull of the look.

As it is summer now you can get away with wearing loose trousers like a pair of crisp white linen trousers but full on pyjamas? Sorry Helena I don't think you can get away with that!

Laura's Answer

Pyjama's to work- are you crazy?! Sorry, but you'd be laughed out of the building if you dared to wear your PJs to work.

Before you think I'm being overly harsh, I will give some credit for the fact that designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton showed PJs on their catwalks this year.

Now, while I quite liked the look on the runway, when I saw Jessica Alba wear one of D&G's catwalk looks, it's fair to say I stopped being a fan pretty quickly.

She was savaged by the fashion critics, with people seriously questioning why on earth she would wear her PJs to a red carpet event?!

No, if you want my advice Helena- stay clear of this trend, but if you simply have to sample the silky PJ look, invest in a pair of Harem pants from the high-street, as these are a great wardrobe office staple for the summer.

Get The Chanel Factor

Nat asks:

I'm loving Chanel's two tone tights, and think you found a great copy on the high-street, but how do you wear them? I'm not sure what outfit would work with them... help please!

Jess's Answer

I love the tights too but I was also a bit wary on how to wear them but I think I've found the answer, keep it classy.

Chanel's style is all about sophistication so that's the way to go when channeling their look.

A simple white or black dress will look great with the contrasting colour in the tights. The broderie anglais look is perfect for spring and adds a pretty edge to the tights. We love this sundress, £40 from Topshop.

Some delicate accessories like a pearl necklace or a bow embellished headband will complete the feminine look.

Finally a pair of nude heels is the only way to finish the look.

Better snap up this look quickly though as summer will be here soon and your tights will be relegated to the back of the draw!

Laura's Answer

I'm with Jess on this one, Chanel's tights rock, but can be very tricky to pull off if you're not used to taking some risks.

My advice is to wear whatever you feel comfy in and let your tights do the talking. That's not to say dress down, and be drab though!

I love this dress from Warehouse, in at £65 as it's girly, feminine and smart, but oh-so on trend too. It will look great paired with two-toned tights, as it's not too OTT.
