Matt Lucas has lost 28lbs.
The 'Little Britain' comic underwent a strict diet after being warned by his doctor he was so overweight his health was suffering.
He said: "My doctor said that my health was at risk. I hit my 36th birthday and I didn't want my health to be in danger. My dad died at 56. So I thought I needed to sort it our and take responsibility. I also think I realised I got to the stage where I couldn't actually picture myself as not fat."
The funnyman started his new healthy eating regime after meeting with a nutritionist and personal trainer who limited his calorie intake to 1,500 a day and taught him body-toning stretches.
He told Britain's Heat magazine: "It's hard, but it does get the endorphins going and I do get a tremendous sense of achievement as I lie there in pain. My trainer is a really nice, eccentric lady, and while we train we have interesting conversations."
However, despite his newfound energy, the comedian says he still can't imagine himself slim.
He added: "The likelihood of me being a proper thin man is remote. I think I'll end up being 14lbs overweight. But I'm not there yet by any stretch of the imagination. Hopefully I'll still be funny. I don't think I'm funny because I'm overweight. Or pale. Or gay. Or Jewish. So I think I can still be funny if I'm not so fat."
