'Malcolm in the Middle' star Frankie Muniz is quitting acting for the next two years - to become a professional racing driver. The 20-year-old actor, who has played child genius Malcolm in the hit US sitcom since he was 12, says he is ready to take a break and pursue his dream of being a racer. He said: "I really love racing and this is what I want to do right now and for the next two years."I've had Malcolm since I was 12. I want to want to act and, right now, I want to race."You can't really juggle both because, if you do, you just don't get enough time in the car."However, Frankie says he does intend to return to acting - as an adult star. The actor, who first became interested in racing when he took part in a pro-celebrity race in 2004, added: "Truthfully, I think it will be easier for me to leave for a while and come back to acting when I'm 23, 24 and be an adult and start fresh."

'Malcolm in the Middle', a comedy about a dysfunctional family, was recently axed by America's Fox TV after seven years due to falling ratings.
