A production of Matt Smith's new stage adaptation of American Psycho was cancelled this week (beg30Dec13) after a number of castmembers fell ill.
The musical's matinee performance at London's Almeida Theatre on Thursday (02Jan13) was called off at the last minute, but producers were able to bring in enough understudies to fill the gaps for the evening show.
A post on the production's official Facebook.com page reads, "2 January matinee cancelled. Due to cast illness the matinee has been cancelled today. We have endeavoured to contact all bookers, and will be processing full refunds as quickly as possible. We apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience caused".
A statement posted on the show's official Twitter.com page confirmed the evening performance would go ahead as planned, but it is not yet known if any upcoming productions will be affected.
In the musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel, Doctor Who star Smith plays psychotic Wall Street banker Patrick Bateman, the part made famous by Christian Bale in the 2000 film.
