Girls actress Zosia Mamet felt wounded when a fundraising campaign to boost her music career flopped, but she is determined to push on with her pop plans.

Mamet and her sister Clara, who perform together as The Cabin Sisters, launched the Kickstarter.com drive last year (13) to raise cash to pay for a promo for their track Bleak Love.

The siblings aimed to raise $32,000 (?20,645) from fan donations but the project flopped, and they raised just $2,783 by the deadline.

Speaking to British magazine Stella, Mamet says, "I'd been warned not to do it. There was a moment of like, 'Ow...' but then I let it go. I was like, 'I'm going to let it run its course. I'm not going to stop making music.'"

At the time, Mamet also came under fire for using the site when she has an established career and wealthy parents - her father is screenwriter and playwright David Mamet, and her mother is Oscar-nominated actress Lindsay Crouse.

However, she insists the flak was unnecessary, adding, "I understand that sometimes people deserve criticism, that's totally fine. Everyone is welcome to their opinion. I just don't want to know all of them, so I don't read reviews... I think to do that, you have to have incredibly thick skin. And that can often create a disconnect between you and your emotions".
