Protein Shakes

Bulking up for summer? Got your gym membership? Whats missing? PROTEIN SHAKES!

To give you that helping hand to get that extra muscle for the perfect summer look why not try Protein shakes.

Protein shakes are most commonly used by athletes trying to build up more lean muscle. Protein is essential for muscles to grow and repair - they need a sufficient amount of protein which is why the high protein powder supplement is used.

After a workout is one of the best time to get protein into the body so that the protein can be delivered to your muscles ,taking protein at that time will give the body the fuel it needs to heal and grow.

Protein shakes can help you gain muscle, increase your strength and get you into shape. In some cases, drinking a protein shake can even help you lose weight.

A protein shake is a drink that usually contains some form of sugar and protein. It's taken directly after a workout to give your body the nutrients it needs to quickly recover. When you workout, whether it's cardio or weight lifting, you're causing small amounts of damage to your muscle tissue. The body can repair this damage but it needs the proper tools.  The tools that are mainly needed to repair your muscles is usually protein so this is why protein shakes have become very popular.
If your body doesn't have access to protein, it won't be able to effectively repair damaged muscle tissue and instead of getting stronger, you'll get weaker.

Because your digestive system takes longer to break down protein and to reach your muscles, it can be best to take a protein shake immediately following a workout, since protein shakes only take about 30 minutes to reach the muscle after ingestion. Definitely, we can see the advantage to taking a protein shake in this instance.
The best times to take your protein shakes are first thing in the morning - because your body has just gone though 8 hours (or however long you sleep for) of not having food - so the protein levels are way down.
Before you go to sleep is also a good time to consume the protein shake - this helps prevent the protein breakdown that naturally occurs when we sleep. If you are not trying to build muscle mass then this protein breakdown is fine. But if you are working out - you want to try to minimize any losses you suffer when you sleep and your protein metabolism slows down.

You should only intake a gram for every pound of fat of the protein shake e.g. 200 lbs - 200 grams.
