Healthy Breakfast Recipes: Marbled Fruit Porridge

On these cold winter mornings there’s nothing better than a tasty bowl of hot porridge to get you out of bed.

Porridge can be a little boring on its own so make sure to mix it up and give it a tasty boost by adding some fresh fruit.

This marbled fruit porridge combines fruit compote/puree with porridge and finished with fresh fruit to give it extra bite.

Here’s what you’ll need and how to make it –

Marbled Fruit Porridge


50g porridge oats

350ml semi skimmed milk

1 tbsp fruit compote or puree

Fresh seasonal fruit to serve (e.g. raspberries)


1. Place the oats and milk in a small saucepan and bring to the boil.

2. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. Stir through the fruit puree to create a marbled effect.

4. Top with fresh fruit to serve.


Try a variety of fruit purees or compotes and mix and match with your favourite fruits and what is in season. For extra sweetness add a little more fruit puree or compote.
