Marvel Games announced on Tuesday night (08.01.19) that the iconic hero family will make an appearance in some shape or form "soon", though there is no word on how and when just yet.

The news was announced during a live stream with Marvel executive Ryan Penagos, who teased: "Something 'fantastic' is coming to 'Marvel's Spider-Man' real soon.

"I can't tell you anything more right now, but you'll want to keep an eye out for this.

"It's going to be amazing and fantastic."

As well as 'Spider-Man', the 'Fantastic Four'-related content will also be playable on 'Contest Of Champions', 'Puzzle Quest', 'Strike Force', and 'Future Fight.'

The news comes just as the City That Never Sleeps season pass DLC came out.

'Marvel's Spider-Man' was one of the best-selling game of 2018.

The superhero title achieved the seventh-largest launch ever achieved by a game on any PlayStation platform, according to NPD, the video games sales tracking firm.

NDP actually began tracking sales in 1995 and 'Marvel's Spider-Man's launch month sales were an impressive 37 per cent higher than all other 'Spider-Man' games combined.

The figures, which were based on projections, served to underline the extent of the interest in, and the popularity of, the gaming title.

By contrast, a report previously revealed that overall boxed sales of video games in the UK have fallen.

Chart-Track data confirmed that overall boxed sales are down 6.2 per cent on 2017.

And while this trend was widely predicted because of the rise of digital sales, the slide is still more substantial than had been forecast.

The situation was compounded by the fact that much-hyped titles from popular franchises like 'Call Of Duty and 'Assassin's Creed' have been released earlier in the year than has been the norm.
