'Gears 5' is "looking great", according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
The upcoming third-person shooter - which is the sixth instalment of the 'Gears of War' franchise - is currently in development by The Coalition for a 2019 release by Xbox Game Studios.
And in a new tweet by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who travelled to Vancouver to visit the Coalition studios, everything seems to be coming along nicely.
Posting a picture of the team working hard on the title, Phil wrote on Twitter last week: "This is the only one I could sneak while Rod wasn't looking. Gears 5 is looking great. (sic)"
That's the only update given by Phil, and it comes after The Coalition boss Rod Fergusson teased that the game was still recording voice lines earlier this month.
In his own tweet posted on February 18, he wrote: "Another awesome day in the booth directing some of our talented VO cast. Can't wait for this story to come out! #Gears5 (sic)"
'Gears 5' doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, but it is expected at some point this year.
Meanwhile, 'Gears of War' designer Cliff Bleszinski - who co-created the popular franchise of military science-fiction shooter games at Epic Games before splitting off to create 'LawBreakers' at Boss Key - recently said he "feels over" making games.
In a Facebook post, he wrote: "I really, honestly, feel over it. (making games)
"Games were good to me, however, the thought of doing it again truly doesn't appeal to me. You haven't seen the thousand yard stares that I've gotten from other developer friends who HAVEN'T been able to retire when we have a pint and they're done with work. The non stop dysfunction. No one knows what they're doing, and those who hit it big are just as talented as they are lucky, and have good timing. Most have families, and the instability of the business terrifies them. Hell, it scared me, not having kids - imagine fearing for your job and being encouraged to work 12+ hour days, six days a week, just to provide for your family. (sic)"
