A new model of the Nintendo Switch is reportedly set to arrive in 2019.
The Switch - which is often referred to as a hybrid console - is already the fastest-selling console in Nintendo's history, and according to a report in the Wall Street Journal newspaper, a new incarnation of the machine is already on the horizon.
While sales of the Switch remain strong, there has been a discernible slowdown from when the device was first released.
And so, in a bid to remain competitive in the marketplace, the Japanese gaming firm is already eyeing some updates to the Switch.
A source close to the company told the newspaper that Nintendo is still debating "what new hardware and software features to include in the upgrade and weighing the cost of the features".
One of the options that's currently being considered by Nintendo bosses is whether to improve the display.
At present, the Switch uses a lower-end liquid-crystal display and is devoid of some of the technology that has become commonplace in recent smartphone LCDs.
Nintendo is reportedly eager to release the new Switch in the latter half of next year.
