The next 'Gran Turismo' game will be "a complete form of Gran Turismo".
Developers at Polyphony Digital are working on the the latest title in the racing simulation video game series - which began in 1997 - and franchise creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said the upcoming game will bring together the "past, present, and future" of the series into one "complete" game.
Yamauchi told GT Planet: "Having done all these World Tours, it gave me the opportunity to feel the history of Gran Turismo. It gives me pointers and hints of the things we should make sure that we do in the future of the series.
"I think the next title that we're going to create will be a combination of the past, present and future - a complete form of Gran Turismo."
The developer wouldn't confirm if the title will be a new 'Gran Turismo Sport' game - which most recently saw a release in October 2017 - or a direct sequel to 'Gran Turismo 6', which was released in 2013.
Yamauchi also wouldn't confirm which consoles the new title will be coming to, but did say he's excited for the new possibilities presented by the PlayStation 5, which is thought to be releasing next year.
Speaking about the virtual reality (VR) possibilities offered by the PS5, the developer said: "I don't think that there's anything else that requires that much processing power. I really like VR; I'm one to believe in the possibilities of it, and it's very suited for a driving game."
