The online boards - which served to help and support users who have encountered issues with their devices and accounts - will be deactivated from February 27.

In a brief announcement by community manager Groovy_Matthew, he simply wrote: "Beginning 27th February, the forums will no longer be available.

"We invite you to continue the conversation via PlayStation.Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. For product support, please visit the support site,"

The change comes as Sony looks to be closing support forums across all of its business, with news the Sony Xperia forums will also be wrapping up.

A post on the site reads: "This forum will be closed down early 2020 and moved to other Sony Electronics Community Forums worldwide.

"We aim to transfer parts of the existing content to these new Communities, but it might take some time before it is completed. We will keep this forum open for comments for some time but please note that any comments posted from now on will not be transferred.

"Members from USA, Canada and Asia Pacific can begin using these Communities now. Members from Europe should continue to use the current Mobile Forum until it is closed down."
