There will be a total of five games available to access for free this week on Xbox One, with the martial arts-themed action role-playing title to start with, with some games requiring the player to be a subscriber.

That will be followed by 'Aftercharge' on January 10, and three titles on January 11; the 10th anniversary 'Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition', 'Void Vikings' and 'Hive Jump'.

All of which will be available from the Microsoft Store.

The Xbox Live announcement comes after the 2019 line-up for Xbox's Games With Gold was revealed.

The new collections for Xbox One and Xbox 360 were confirmed by Microsoft ahead of the new year, giving gamers some exciting titles to look forward to through the service.

Between January 1-31, Xbox Live Gold members with an Xbox One will be able to download 'Celeste' for free.

The pixelated platformer is well-designed but incredibly difficult, although its checkpoint system will makes things a little easier.

The other title - which will be available between January 16 and February 15 - is racing game 'WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship'.

For Xbox 360 users - and Xbox One players using backwards compatibility - the new year will also bring some great titles, with 'Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light' coming from January 1-15.

Then, open world shooter 'Far Cry 2' - regarded as a classic by fans - will be up for grabs between January 16-31.
