Stella McCartney's Falabella handbag is getting a woolly makeover.

The British fashion designer has revamped her popular bag using wool sourced from her own flock of sheep which graze on her Cotswolds farm, renaming it the Itsy Bitsy Falabella tote in honour of her favourite sheep.

Animal-mad Stella refuses to use any leather or fur in her ethical clothing label, so decided to recycle the excess wool her pet flock generates.

Stella usually only works with wool suppliers who do not use the controversial mulesing practice on their sheep - which sees excess skin from the sheep's hindquarters removed in order to prevent infection.

The grey bag - which retails at £1,150 - is expected to be snapped up by Falabella fans including Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson.

The covetable arm candy is trimmed with Stella's signature silver chain hardware and boasts textured panels.

The tote is available exclusively on the designer's website.

Stella was awarded an OBE in December for her services to fashion, notably her efforts kitting out Team GB for the London 2012 Olympics.

The 41-year-old fashion maven also won big at the 2012 British Fashion Awards, picking up both Designer Brand and Designer of the Year gongs.
