Woody Allen is set to return to the director's chair this September with his latest film Irrational Man, a movie that sees him reunite with the very lovely Emma Stone.
Irrational Man is the second consecutive project with Stone and comes just a year after they first collaborated on Magic in the Moonlight. As well as being in the director's chair, Allen has also penned the screenplay for the film.
Stone is a huge favourite here at FemaleFirst and she is set to take on the role of Jill in the film. For me, there hasn't been enough of Stone on the big screen this and Irrational Man will be the first time that UK audiences have seen her since her Oscar nominated performance in Birdman at the beginning of the year.
Irrational Man sees Joaquin Phoenix star alongside Stone and the pair can be seen in action in these two great new clips from the movie:
I personally cannot wait to see Phoenix team up with Stone - they really are two of the most exciting actors working in Hollywood at the moment - and the duo is joined on the cast list by Parker Posey and Jamie Blackley.
Irrational Man is about a tormented philosophy professor who finds a will to live when he commits an existential act. Philosophy professor Abe Lucas (Phoenix) is at rock bottom emotionally, unable to find any meaning or joy in life. Abe feels that everything he's tried to do, from political activism to teaching, hasn't made any difference.
Soon after arriving to teach at a small town college, Abe gets involved with two women: Rita Richards (Posey), a lonely professor who wants him to rescue her from her unhappy marriage; and Jill Pollard (Stone), his best student, who becomes his closest friend.
While Jill loves her boyfriend Roy (Blackley), she finds Abe's tortured, artistic personality and exotic past irresistible. Even as Abe displays signs of mental imbalance, Jill's fascination with him only grows. Still, when she tries to make their relationship a romantic one, he rebuffs her.
Irrational Man is released 11th September.
