Just days after it was revealed that Matthew Vaughn was no longer directing X-Men: Days of Future Past is has been reported that Bryan Singer will take over the helm.
The X-Men director was the favourite of the studio to take over the director's chair and it has now been announced that he will direct the sequel.
It is still not known why Vaughn decided not to return but he is expected to produce the movie.
Singer began working in the X-Men universe back in 2000 with X-Men and X2 as well as being one of the producers on X-Men:First Class.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is a sequel to that spinoff movie and will see James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence return to their roles.
The movie is scheduled for a July 2014 release and so filming will get underway next year.
As for Singer his next movie project is set to hit the big screen next year in the form of Jack The Giant Slayer.
