Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder slammed executives at British oil giant BP during the band's show in Louisiana on Saturday (01May10) - as a slick threatens to engulf the state's coastline.
Vedder also took the opportunity to toast the soldiers of the LouisianaNational Guard, who are serving in Iraq, according to Rollingstone
The Alive hitmakers headlined the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival,and during the set the frontman addressed the looming environmental crisis after a collapsed rig in the Gulf of Mexico left a massive oil spill drifting towards the Louisiana shores.
Vedder told the crowd, "I'd like to make a toast to the fine folks at BP. Send your sons and daughters to clean up your f**king mess".
The singer also wore his message across his chest by donning a t-shirt featuring an image from the Mr Bill Show - the character's creator, Walter Williams, has long campaigned to protect Louisiana's endangered wetlands.

The regiment received a live internet stream of the show, and the star told the troops, "I wish you'd have a beer. You've earned it".
