Veteran singer Paul Anka has urged his estranged wife Anna Yeager to seek "medical help" after she accused the star of pulling a gun on her during a domestic dispute last year (09).
She needs medical help. Why not call 911 (police) when the guy has a gun to your head?
The My Way songwriter filed divorce papers in December (09) after the pair became embroiled in a bitter argument outside their California house when he arrived home to discover his wife had fired the family maid.
Personal trainer Yeager called police on 3 December (09), claiming she feared for her safety after Anka allegedly pulled a gun on her the night before.
She obtained a temporary restraining order against the singer last week (begs 03/Feb/10), insisting she lives in fear of her life.
Video footage of the December incident was reportedly checked by police, who found no evidence of wrongdoing and decided not to take any further action.
Anka, 68, has repeatedly denied Yeager's gun claims and has publicly questioned her version of the incident, suggesting she made up the story.
He tells the New York Post, "She needs medical help. Why not call 911 (police) when the guy has a gun to your head? I would assume that anyone without a lobotomy would have called 911 when the incident happened, not the day after".
Earlier this month (Feb10), Anka filed a defamation suit against Yeagerin a dispute over their prenuptial agreement.
He is also seeking custodyof their two children - four-year-old Ethan and his seven-year-old stepdaughter Elli, from Anna's previous marriage.
