Rockers Weezer have refused to cancel a gig in Alabama after the state was hit by a series of tornadoes, vowing to bring "love and rock" to the area.

Storms swept across six southern states over a 24-hour period, beginning on Wednesday (27Apr11), and the worst damage occurred in Alabama, whereover 200 people perished.
But the Buddy Holly hitmakers were determined to make the trip to Birmingham, where they are due to play a concert at the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil on Friday (29Apr11).
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Weezer bassist Scott Shriner writes,"Man my heart goes out to the family's (sic) in Birmingham. Can't believe we're going there. Alright, time to bring the love and the rock.

Sending love". Meanwhile frontman Rivers Cuomo appeared nervous about venturing into the hardest-hit state, 'Tweeting' on Thursday (28Apr11) "Boarding a plane4 Alabama. Said goodbye 2 my family".
