Nelson Mandela is launching a bid for the pop charts - he has recorded a spoken-word vocal for a track by Irish musician John Hughes.
The former South African president makes his recording debut in The Mandela Suite, which was inspired by one of the 92 year old's inspirational quotes, "Music sets people free to dream."
Hughes, who once managed the pop band The Corrs, created the song in Mandela's honour after meeting him at the South Africa Freedom Day concert in London's Trafalgar Square in 2001.
Hughes explains, "I wanted the world to hear it." The track is due for release on 28 March.
