Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz reportedly ordered a penalty shootout 63 minutes into a football match because he found it boring.
The game was between FC Tevragh-Zeina and ACS Ksar, two local teams from Mauritania.
The score was 1-1 when the president decided that the game needed to be cut short and finished with a penalty shootout instead.
The Mauritanian federation's president Ahmed Ould Abderrahmane promptly denied these reports saying "I deny in the strongest terms the intervention of the president of the republic. The decision was made due to organisational issues in accordance with the presidents and the coaches of the two teams."
