Britain's Prince Charles is hoping his son Prince William and daughter-in-law Duchess Catherine can spend New Year's Eve (31.12.11) with him.

It will depend on whether William has to work over New Year but Charles and Camilla love having them to stay and hope they will be able to make it. Charles has installed a woodchip boiler which he's keen to show off.

The heir to the throne and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, want the couple to see in 2012 with them at Birkhall in Scotland and are looking forward to showing off their recent home improvements.

A source told the Mail On Sunday: "It will depend on whether William has to work over New Year but Charles and Camilla love having them to stay and hope they will be able to make it. Charles has installed a woodchip boiler which he's keen to show off."

Meanwhile, experts have warned that Catherine could be in for a stressful first Christmas with William's family, as it is an occasion which the late Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson - the former wives of Charles and Prince Andrew - always struggled with.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, said: "Diana and Fergie found it daunting and never really relaxed.

"Catherine will be venturing into the unknown but William will help her and I'm sure she will cope. She should just be herself but she will have to get used to the fact that everything is planned almost down to the last minute."
