Nathan Ake has set his sights on pushing for a place in the Chelsea first-team squad once his loan spell with Watford has ended.

Ake eyes Chelsea future

Ake joined the Hornets on a season-long loan deal from the Blues in August after signing a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, and he has shown his undoubted potential during that time.

The 21-year-old Dutchman has impressed at Vicarage Road and their boss Quique Sanchez Flores now hopes to snare the defender on a permanent deal.

It has been suggested £3million may be enough to convince the Blues to sell, but Ake has other ideas and still sees his future with Chelsea.

"Of course, I would like to return to Chelsea," he revealed.

"But it is important for a player of my age to get regular playing time. Things have been going pretty well this season. I am getting plenty of game time and I really feel like I am improving as a player.

"Let's see how the season ends with Watford and then we can start thinking about the future."

If a permanent switch is rejected by Chelsea it is thought Flores will push for another loan deal for next season.
