Nathan Ake looks set to disappoint Watford and instead sees his long-term future at Chelsea once his loan spell with the Hornets ends.

Ake still favours Chelsea long-term

Ake still favours Chelsea long-term

Ake joined the Hornets on a season-long loan deal from the Blues in August after signing a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, and he has shown his undoubted potential during that time.

The 21-year-old Dutchman has impressed at Vicarage Road and Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores has made it clear he would like to sign the defender on a permanent deal.

It has been suggested £3million may be enough to convince the Blues to sell, but Ake has other ideas and still sees his future with Chelsea.

"Of course, I would like to return to Chelsea," he revealed.

"But it is important for a player of my age to get regular playing time. Things have been going pretty well this season. I am getting plenty of game time and I really feel like I am improving as a player.

"Let's see how the season ends with Watford and then we can start thinking about the future."

If a permanent switch is rejected by Chelsea it is thought Flores could still push for another loan deal for next season.
