Stoke are waiting to discover the extent of a hamstring injury to Joe Allen suffered in Wales' 2-2 draw in Austria on Thursday.
The summer signing from Liverpool opened the scoring for the Welsh with a fine strike from outside the box but failed to finish the match, leaving the field early on in the second half.
Wales manager Chris Coleman is concerned the 26-year-old may not be fit for his team's next game in their World Cup qualification campaign against Georgia on Sunday but will wait for a further assessment.
Coleman has pledged not to take any risks with Allen, claiming he does not want to sour the national side's relationship with Stoke.
"We could have gambled and kept him on, but we don't want to do that," Coleman said.
"He'll be assessed over the next 24-48 hours and it's how he reacts, but if we see anything on the scan we won't gamble.
"He is Stoke's player and we have to respect that."
