Sam Allardyce has defended the shaky display of debutant Eliaquim Mangala in Everton's 5-1 defeat at Arsenal last Saturday.
The Toffees boss jumped to the defence of his January loan signing from Manchester City after critics rounded on Mangala following the Emirates Stadium horror show.
Allardyce said: 'You can only make an impact if other players are playing to their capabilities and they weren’t.
'There wasn’t anything wrong with his performance in the second half. Only I would know that because it’s my job to study the game....it’s a very hard result to accept but the whole performance wasn’t what we were looking for.
'It’s a blip that we have to get over quickly. We’ve gained more points from behind than most teams in the Premier League. We usually get a goal and come back and we’re not going to forget that on one isolated incident.'
