Sunderland are determined to hold out for their full asking price if Emanuele Giaccherini leaves the club in the summer.
The winger never cracked it on Wearside after joining the club for around £6million from Juventus back in 2013 and this season he has been on loan back in Italy at Bologna.
The 30-year-old has been a success back at Bologna and started for Italy against Spain last week. A number of clubs have been alerted to his availability but Sunderland want back what they paid for him even though he will have just one year left on his contract in the summer, a situation acknowledged by the midfielder's agent, Furio Valcareggi.
"He will be going into the last year of his contract, and I think that makes it more affordable," Valcareggi told the Echo.
"But there will still need to be some negotiations with Sunderland. They do not have economic problems, and therefore do not give gifts."
