Chelsea remain in the hunt to sign Ross Barkley and look set to pip Tottenham to his signature in the new year.
Barkley looks set to finally complete a move away from Everton in the new year after refusing to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, and both Chelsea and Tottenham are keen to do a deal.
Chelsea came close to signing the midfielder in the summer, only for a deal to collapse at the last minute as the player had cold feet and wanted to wait until the new year, giving him more time to weigh up his options.
Barkley is now closing in on full fitness and is ready to make a decision on his future, with Chelsea still in the box seat to do a deal.
It has been suggested Tottenham would prefer to wait until the end of the season when Barkley will be available on a free transfer, while Chelsea are happy to pay a fee now if it means they finally land their man.
That would also suit Everton, who are keen to recoup some cash rather than lose him for nothing in six months.
As well as Barkley, rumours are suggesting Monaco star Thomas Lemar, who failed to secure a move to Arsenal in the summer, is also on Conte's wanted list.
