Jay Rodriguez is reportedly targeting a return to action for Southampton when hometown club Burnley visit St Mary's on Sunday.
The 27-year-old England international striker moved to the Saints from Burnley in a £7million deal in 2012 but has only lined up against them on one occasion during that time, mainly because of his catalogue of injury issues on the south coast.
Rodriguez spent over a season on the sidelines after suffering anterior cruciate knee ligament damage at Manchester City in April 2014, while a myriad of problems since has meant he has been unable to get a consistent run in the side.
He suffered a groin injury in training last month shortly after his goal against Sparta Prague in the Europa League and has been working his way back to fitness.
The two-week international break has given him more time on the training pitch and it appears he could be in Claude Puel's plans for the televised encounter against Sean Dyche's Clarets this weekend.
