Manchester United remain keen on Seamus Coleman and will attempt to sign the Everton right-back in January, according to reports.
Coleman, 28, has been linked to United - the club he supported growing up in Ireland - many times before but there are a couple of reasons that suggest now could be the right time for the move.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has lost faith in Italy international Matteo Darmian, who has hardly figured in the Premier League, and seems willing to let him return to Serie A.
United's only other senior right-back is Antonio Valencia who is three years older than Coleman at 31 and may not have long left at the very highest level.
Mourinho reportedly tried to sign Fabinho from Monaco in the summer but the deal didn't happen and the Brazilian then signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to the Ligue 1 club until 2021.
His name seems to have been wiped off Mourinho's whiteboard and replaced by that of Coleman, who last extended his Everton contract over two years ago and could be tempted by the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
