Stand in skipper Jos Buttler and spinning allrounder Moeen Ali starred as England chased down a large total to win a warm up game against a BCB XI at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Buttler cracked an unbeaten 80 to get England over the line after the BCB XI posted a score of 309/9 in their fifty overs.
Bangladesh international Imrul Kayes was impressive as he hit 121 off just 91 balls to help his case for a place in the ODI XI.
Kayes was well by Nazmul Hossain Shanto (36) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51) but when the latter departed in the 41st over the BCB XI faltered and were only able to add 49 runs off the remaining 55 balls.
Chris Woakes continued his fine form with the ball as he was the pick of the England bowlers registering figures of 3 for 52 while Ben Stokes also bowled well to finish with 2/36 from 8 overs.
Jason Roy (28) and James Vince (48) shared a 72 run stand for the opening wicket before new boy Ben Duckett (29) joined Vince and got going before departing prematurely which would become a theme.
Jonny Bairstow (11) and Ben Stokes (28) also got starts but when Stokes fell leaving England 170 for 5 the tourists were in trouble.
Buttler and Ali would steady the ship for England though and put on 139 runs for the sixth wicket. Ali would depart with the scores tied and the job just about done, in the end Buttler would crack the first ball of the 47th over for four to end the contest.
With no fewer than nine bowlers used Ebadat Hossain would finish on top in terms of figures as he captured 2/26 from five overs.
England meet Bangladesh in the first of three ODIs this Friday in Dhaka.
