Watford striker Troy Deeney should be handed an opportunity to prove himself with England, according to Alan Shearer.
The 28-year-old has further enhanced his reputation in the Premier League since earning promotion with Watford two seasons ago.
The Three Lions are set to be without Harry Kane for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia and Shearer believes he should be considered by England.
Deeney added to his goalscoring tally over the weekend in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth and he has been hailed as an integral figure for the Hornets.
Shearer said: "He is an integral part to how Watford play. I like the way he leads that team and drags them around.
"If there's another injury then he should be given an opportunity."
