Everton will monitor midfielder McCarthy and winger Bolasie before deciding whether to start the duo in the Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

McCarthy lasted just half of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Bournemouth at Dean Court, before being replaced by Rooney - who had been feeling ill over Christmas.

Idrissa Gueye should feature again after recovering from hamstring trouble, with Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley still sidelined.

Seamus Coleman is also still out.
