Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman has reportedly emerged as a January transfer target for Everton.
Everton manager Sam Allardyce, who has conceded some squad players will need to be moved on this month, is eager to add more competition for places in defence after conceding 11 goals from the last five Premier League games.
Leighton Baines is currently on the sidelines with a calf injury and the options at left-back are limited for the former England boss, who has been chopping and changing from a 3-4-4 formation to a 4-2-3-1.
The Toffees are rumoured to have joined the race for Ghana international Rahman, who is now back to full fitness after enduring an injury-plagued couple of seasons with the Blues.
A loan move until the end of the campaign is being mooted and Everton, who are sitting ninth in the table, are hopeful they can fend off interest from any other interest parties.
It is also being claimed Schalke are looking into a loan deal for the defender, who spent last season at the Veltins-Arena.
