Brighton have reportedly made contact with Inter and AC Milan over Andrea Ranocchia and Gustavo Gomez respectively.
The Seagulls have made a positive start to life in the Premier League and currently sit 12th after 15 games but boss Chris Hughton is keen to strengthen his squad further in January.
Brighton boast a decent defensive record, having shipped 19 goals, but Hughton feels he needs more options in that area of the field.
Gomez, who joined Milan in the summer of 2016, has been frozen out of the first team picture and has been restricted to just one substitute appearance in the Europa League this term.
Reports claim that the Diavolo are keen to offload the Paraguayan with both Brighton and Boca Juniors looking to bring him in.
Meanwhile, Ranocchia has also emerged as a target for the Amex Stadium outfit, having spent the second half of last season on loan with Hull.
It’s understood that Ranocchia is Hughton’s top priority for the January window but his departure would leave Inter short on options so an exit could be unlikely.
Reports in Italy suggest that Brighton have already sent representatives to meet with both clubs as they look to begin early negotiations.
