Jack Ross has rejected Barnsley in favour of staying on as St Mirren manager.
The Ladbrokes Championship leaders gave the Tykes permission to speak to Ross on Tuesday night with a view to him succeeding Paul Heckingbottom, who left to join Leeds last week, at Oakwell.
But Ross has opted to stay with the Buddies, 14 points clear at the top of the table, as they close in on promotion to the Premiership.
St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick told the club's official website: 'We are delighted with the news that Jack remains committed to St Mirren.
'Jack has built something special here and has really pulled everyone together in the right direction.
'It is excellent news for the club and all focus is on trying to meet our targets for the season.'
