Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark has shaken off a minor injury and is likely to retain his place for the clash with Manchester United.
Clark given all clear
The central defender sustained a minor knee issue in the draw with Crystal Palace last weekend but he has passed a fitness test and will be available for Rafael Benitez.
January signing Islam Slimani could be handed his debut following a loan switch from Leicester but first he must convince the coaching staff that he has fully recovered from a thigh problem.
Benitez will certainly be without defender Jesus Gamez, although he is making positive steps to return from an ankle problem.
