Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton says the defeat to Arsenal was hard to take as he felt they deserved at least a share of the points.
The Clarets put in a good performance and almost went in front when Michael Keane's header rattled the woodwork, while Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Sam Vokes also went close for the home side.
However Burnley were undone in the cruellest of fashions when the Gunners grabbed the only goal of the game right at the death in controversial circumstances.
Laurent Koscielny appeared to handle the ball before it crossed the line, and not only that, the Gunners defender also looked to be in an offside position.
“It’s hard to swallow because it’s still raw, especially with the way that we went about it,” said Heaton. “I thought we had some fantastic chances as well. It’s not been a ‘park the bus’ performance; I thought we played some good stuff.
“Obviously they had some sustained pressure at times, which they were always going to have with the quality that they’ve got, but I thought we handled that really well.
“We also got them on the back foot at times and had some good chances of our own. They’re a top team but we were excellent. We got the performance bang on so it’s tough to take when it probably shouldn’t have counted.”
