In-form Rochdale lose key midfield duo to long-term injuries

Rochdale suffered a double injury blow with midfield duo Peter Vincenti and Jamie Allen both facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.

The Sky Bet League One club first announced 30-year-old Vincenti would undergo ankle surgery on Friday and faces a four-month absence, before a second statement confirmed Allen "will be out for between six to eight weeks".

Rochdale manager Keith Hill told the club's website: "It's annoying and it's a very frustrating situation we find ourselves in with Peter.

"We're going to lose him now for between three to four months, which is a tragedy."
