Riyad Mahrez is reportedly set to return to training with Leicester on Friday and would like to face Manchester City on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Algeria international had not been seen at the Foxes training ground since he was denied a January transfer deadline day switch to City.
Boss Claude Puel has continued to leave the door open for Mahrez to return to the first-team fold between now and the end of the season although he suggested on Thursday that he would not available for this weekend's game at the Etihad Stadium.
He added: 'I hope he can get his head right and come back with us and work hard. The best way is to come back and enjoy his football.'
Mahrez seems to have responded to Puel's softly-softly approach, with claims that he will link up with the rest of the squad at he training ground on Friday.
But given that he has not played since scoring a late goal in the 2-0 win against Watford on January 20, it seems very unlikely that he will be thrust back into the matchday squad this weekend.
