Mounie, who joined the Yorkshire-based outfit from Montpellier this summer, has been working his way back to full fitness after picking up a heel injury in the 2-0 defeat to West Ham United in September.

The 23-year-old has only made two substitute appearances since that loss to the Hammers with manager David Wagner cautious about throwing the striker back into the mix too quickly.

But the Parakou-born star could be in line for a starting chance when the Terriers travel to Bournemouth on Saturday after getting another hour of game-time under his belt for Benin in the 1-1 draw against Tanzania on Sunday.

However, fitness may not be the only thing in the way of Mounie returning as team-mate Laurent Depoitre, who earned a recall to the Belgium national team for the first time in two years this month, has produced some fine performances over recent weeks.
