Burnley midfielder Aiden O'Neill has vowed to fight for a first-team spot with the Premier League club this season.
The 19-year-old started 2016-17 as part of the first-team set up and featured three times from the bench upon the club's return to the Premier League.
However, he didn’t make enough of an impression on Sean Dyche and was loaned out to League One side Oldham for the second half of the campaign.
Burnley’s midfield is arguably even stronger this season following the arrival of Jack Cork, who will join the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Ashley Westwood, Robbie Brady, Scott Arfield, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Steven Defour for a starting spot.
O’Neill could potentially be loaned out again for the 2017-18 season but he insists he is ready to fight for a spot at Turf Moor.
"I’ll be ready to fight for it but we’ll see how it goes and where it takes me," O'Neill said.
"Everywhere there is competition, if you don’t have competition it’s not healthy for the team so you’ve got to embrace it and see where it takes you."
