Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says it's high time Denmark were back amongst the elite nations on the international stage.
The Foxes keeper is preparing for the next round of World Cup qualifiers with his country and he is set to start when they take on Poland on Saturday before they host Montenegro on Tuesday.
Schmeichel says he's determined to play his part in helping Denmark get another three points on the board following a 1-0 win over Armenia last month as they look to make it to Russia in 2018.
Denmark have failed to qualify for the last two major summer tournaments, with Euro 2012 their last appearance at a big finals, but Schmeichel says that record needs to be put right in two years' time.
"Denmark need to qualify for a major tournament, it's been a while since we did that," he said. "We missed the Euros and we missed the World Cup, and as great as last summer was, every evening when you're sat at home watching the Euros and you're not in it, is a painful experience.
"It's not something I want to have to do again."
